Dear Sue,
While rummaging thru the basement this afternoon I just
happened to find an old photo album of mine from the fifties. Some pictures from the 7th
grade etc. when the school first opened. Also one half of the class photo in front of the
capital bldg. on the senior trip(dont have a clue what happened to the other half) I also
have the original graduation program, a ticket or invition to the senior prom. An
original class of '59 yearbook(havent seen that in a few years!) and some other assorted
photos from the years the school opened until we graduated. I'm sure there is more, over
the years my kids have gone thru and put some of them in other albums, I'll try to find
some more. I will be happy to send any and all to you if you would like to see them or put
them up on the page.
Last spring sometime a recieved an email telling me about the reunion web site, I was
quite amazed how you guys found me. I responded ,sent in the 15 bucks and recieved the
news letter. Unfortunetly I could not attend the reunion, but I think I would like to go
to this one. I live in Columbia County New York which is midway between New York City and
Albany, we moved here in 1977 when the taxes in Levittown drove us out. Built a new home
in the woods by the proverbial babbling brook, raised three kids and have been happy ever
since. I attended
LMHS from 7th grade(the year it opened intil 12th '59). Marge Curtin was my home
room teacher in 7th grade, I believe it was her first year teaching. All, through the
years we kept in touch. I was shocked to hear about her death.
I lived at 55 Anvil lane from 1949 until 1967 when I
married Pat Morris from Hicksville. In the interim after
graduation I was a teamster truck driver, became a member of the Levittown Fire Department
and was drafted into the US Army in 1964. Served in the military police until discharge in
1966 when shortly after I was appointed to the New York City Fire Department. We were
married in 1967 and moved to Cotton lane in Levittown. In 1977 we decided it was time to
leave Long Island. Packed up the three kids and headed north. "Close in" Red
Hook/Pine Plains. Only 102 miles to work each way, but it was worth it. I retired from the
job , Ladder Co. 7 (midtown) in 1987, before it retired me! and became involved in the
wholesale forest products business where I have been ever since. The kids are all grown,
one grand child so far. We now have more dogs than we have kids! Kathleen,29 and her
husband lives in Hillsdale, NY. which is close by, Michael ,27 is in Rhinebeck, NY, and
Caroline 22, lives in Arizona.
I believe I'm the only Life Member of the Levittown Fire Department(volunteer) that ever
went to LMHS, and I guess the only NYC Fireman. Sorry for rambling on, it was almost like
coming home again.
Keep up the good work, if you need any help let me know.
